 The golgi complex consists of flattened membranous sacs in stacks. It has a membrane-bound structure with a single membrane. It is important for the packaging of molecules for transport elsewhere in the cell. In an electron microscope, the golgi apparatus appears as stacked lines surrounded by spots.
